John Pettis

Two things fascinated John Pettis as a young man, being an avid outdoorsman and crafting fine art. There in the Northwestern Rocky Mountains, within the Big Sky state of Montana, the opportunity to view and play among mother nature’s grandeur was a childhood dream. His love for art and nature were soon combined and he began sculpting North American wildlife and historical figures from the American West.

John’s personal stories and experiences growing up among cowboys, packers and hunters allows the authenticity of his sculpted subjects to shine forth. “The inspiration to tell a story in the bronze medium has been there since I learned to weld and cast my first bronze at eighteen. Having a great mentor who kept me inspired early on in my career also really helped. Sculpting three-dimensional art can be quite physical, much the same way bronze sculptures are cast through the lost wax process. To create fine art takes dedicated passion and a life-time to master, which is why I am always looking to capture new ideas and the next story to sculpt.”
